Longhouse

is a new custom designed and build private residence rooted in the Forrest of the Pacific Northwest. Below, deep in the ground, wells provide geothermal energy to meet all heating and cooling needs. The ground floor stretches out into a sunny glade. A glassed-in south-facing pavilion embraces a heated swimming pool. An arm of the pool passes into the pavilion allowing warm winter access to the water. In summer, the glass walls fold away and the pavilion stands open on the pool terrace. The main level is built on the forest floor. Terraces reach in four directions and run through the heart of the house at the kitchen. Reaching up, the house opens with skylights. Roof gardens insulate and protect. Terraces in the tree canopy offer a glimpse of the Cascades.
